Already have a Website or own a registered Domain name? - FAQs
-
Yes - it’s easy! We can handle all of that for you - we’ll just replicate the content and images manually, exporting data and rebuilding the site on the new Squarespace platform.
-
Each website is uniquely crafted to meet your needs. You’re likely here because you want to revamp, modernise, or enhance your existing site. We can create a completely fresh, contemporary design or adapt your current style to the Squarespace platform for a seamless upgrade.
-
If your domain name is registered with a provider like GoDaddy or Namecheap, you can either transfer it to Squarespace or connect it to your Squarespace site. You will provide the Squarespace DNS settings to your current hosting platform.
Transferring:
Transferring means moving your domain to Squarespace, and you'll manage everything within Squarespace.
Connecting:
Connecting keeps your domain with your current host, but you'll need to provide DNS settings to point it to your Squarespace site.
-
Connecting means letting your website name (called a domain) stay with the company you got it from, but making it work with your new Squarespace website. It’s like keeping your favorite book at home but letting a friend use it for a school project—you still own the book, but it’s being used somewhere else!
How do you connect your domain to Squarespace?
To make your website name show your new Squarespace site, you need to update something called “DNS settings.” These are like instructions that tell the internet where to find your website. Here’s how it works:Log in to your domain company: This is the place where you bought your website name, like GoDaddy or Namecheap.
Change the DNS settings: You’ll add some special instructions to point your domain to Squarespace’s servers (the place where your new website lives).
Wait a little bit: After you update the settings, it might take a few hours or up to 3 days for the whole world to see your new Squarespace website when they type in your domain name.
